Dr. Timothy Gadson - Experienced in School Leadership and Improvement

An accomplished Salt Lake City educator, Dr. Timothy Gadson has served as a consultant with the Salt Lake City School District since 2022. In this capacity, he advises the Board of Education. He is responsible for the coordination and management of special projects. In his previous role as superintendent, Dr. Timothy Gadson managed a $330 million budget for the 21,000-student district. His accomplishments in this position include leading the development of a COVID-19 response plan to address the resurgence of COVID-19 and ensure students remained in school. He partnered with colleague superintendents in Salt Lake County to ensure consistency and efficiency across districts. He served on the state accountability advisory committee that advised the Utah Department of Education and the state legislature to develop a new statewide accountability system. Dr. Gadson is also credited with creating a streamlined budgeting process and brokering an agreement with various parties to facilitate free transportation for district staff and students.

Previously, Dr. Gadson spent several years as associate superintendent with Anoka-Hennepin Schools in Minnesota. He managed more than $85 million in school and department operating budgets and $2 million in office operating funds. His graduation planning and monitoring system contributed to the highest graduation rates in the district’s history. Additionally, Dr. Gadson assisted with school improvement and transformation efforts in Providence, Rhode Island, and St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Dr. Gadson holds a bachelor of science in business economics and secondary education from Florida A&M University and a Ph.D. in curriculum, instruction, and higher education administration from Washington State University.
